Dave Keon
Dave Keon was born on March 22, 1940 in Noranda, Quebec. He was part of the Maple Leafs organization, playing with the St. Michaels
College in 1959. A year later when he was just 19, he joined the Toronto Maple Leafs and won the Calder Trophy as the best rookie,
scoring 45 points. He continued to excel in Toronto, turning out to be one of the highest scoring forwards in the team's history.
Keon lead the team to four Stanley Cups, winning with the Maple Leafs in 1962, 1963, 1964 and 1967 and hardly ever took penalties.
Even with his great play on the ice, Dave was never really at ease with the Toronto front office. In 1975 he signed as a free agent
with the Minnesota Fighting Saints of the World Hockey Association (WHA). He played four seasons in the WHA with the Fighting Saints,
Indianapolis Racers and New England Whalers. In 1979 he was back in the NHL when New England Whalers became the Hartford Whalers. Dave
Keon retired from hockey in 1982 and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1986.
